Beyblades Toys… a line of high-performance battling spinning tops which is quietly climbing to the top of the toy list again!
Again?
Yep been there done that… Beyblades were released back in 1999 and the popularity of this timeless toy has steadily continued to grow.
Beyblade Toys are based on the very popular animated Japanese tv show Beyblade.
It’s really just a new spin on a old toy that has been around for a very long time.
Beyblade Toy Origin
The tv show Beyblade and Beyblade Toys name comes from Beigoma which are traditional Japanese spinning top toys. They are thought to have come from China to Japan and have been recorded back in history as far as the 17th century.
Parents and grandparents of Beybladers may remember a couple different versions of what is now know as Beyblades.
In 1968 the toy company Ideal released Battling Tops. In the late 80′s another toy company Parker Brothers introduced Spinjas, a ratcheted spinning top game.
The objective of the game similar to Beyblades, is to load your chosen character into the ratcheting launcher and each player would launch their top into the arena at the same time.
The tops would ricochet off each other until only one remained spinning within the arena and that player was declared the winner. That is also the goal in Beyblades to be the last top still spinning.
Kids today can collect, customise and compete with their Beyblades. Complete with cast metal fusion wheel, ripcord launcher and assembly tool, they can build their own top to suit their battle. Whether it’s a defence, attack, balance or stamina top, they can enter competitions confident that they will reign supreme!
